Ream and run for a B2 glenoid: rowing big rivers 12 years later

Today we had the opportunity to see in followup a man born in 1938 who 12 years ago had a ream and run for his left shoulder with the desire to return to rowing large rafts on wild and scenic rivers, such as the Rogue and Upper Umpqua.



Before surgery he could perform 8 of the 12 functions of the Simple Shoulder Test. His preoperative x-rays showed a B2 glenoid:




Now 12 years after surgery he is rowing activity. His Simple Shoulder Test is 12/12. His radiographs today show a single concavity and no evidence of glenoid wear.


It is interesting to observe the time course of his recovery, shown in the graph below showing SST score plotted by date. The red dot represents his immediate preoperative score.

Of note is the fact that he continued to improve several years after his procedure
